Description
Mick Flannery is one of Ireland's most acclaimed songwriters and singers. The award-winning, double-platinum artist has released seven studio albums, three of which have reached No. 1 status.
On September 15, he will release his eighth studio album, 'Goodtime Charlie.' It features collaborations with Valerie June, Anaïs Mitchell, and Tianna Esperanza.
"Mick Flannery has a voice for the ages, a complete master of his craft," Clash magazine quoted him as saying, while The Sunday Times said he "conjures exquisite stories." His last album, released in 2021, consisted of a collection of duets with rising Irish artist Susan O'Neill. The album was nominated for the Choice Music Prize and won RTE Radio 1 Song of the Year two years in a row for the tracks 'Baby Talk' and 'Chain Reaction'. The album was the best-selling independent album in Ireland in 2021.
Mick Flannery's songs fluidly express the complex aspects of the human condition, its weaknesses, triumphs, and general insecurity. Originally a stonemason by trade, he once described his stage presence as that of a "mountain goat," but over the years, this shy, mountain-goat awkwardness has gradually dissipated. His live shows are known for his self-deprecating humor, his engagement with the audience, and his ability to take people on a journey that brings both heartbreak and joy, often in the same moment.
